The Brit actress believes he snuck up on her because she "looks young" from behind.

Describing her ordeal, which she classed an "attempted kidnapping" on Facebook, Tina said she managed to run into another road, but when he grabbed her, she thought "this is it".

Suddenly a "huge demonic voice" came out of her and she began to scream obscenities in his face which appeared to scare him.

She added: "He let go and I ran like I’ve never ran before – still screaming for all I was worth and yelling help in my deepest most butch voice like a bull elephant.

"He stopped chasing me, grabbed one of my bags which I’d thrown on the floor and suddenly I was in the middle of a ring of people who had come to help."

The actress who played Detective Constable in the popular BBC crime drama said she is okay and safe, but now she lives "terrified of her own shadow".

The Met Police said there were two men involved in the incident which they are still investigating.

One remained in a car, while the attacker "described as around 30-35-years old, of stocky/overweight build" targeted Tina.

Her husband Martin Gaisford urged people to "be aware" as they may not be as fortunate as his wife to get away from their attackers.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "On Monday 18 December a 51-year-old female was walking along Swains Lane in Archway at around 19.35hrs.

"She was approached by a male who grabbed the victim and took her bag after it was dropped to the floor. The victim screamed and the male got into a car [model unknown] before it made off.

"The male is described as around 30-35 years old, of stocky/overweight build, with grey and white stubble, short grey hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a dark padded quilted jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms.

"There is no description of the second male in the car. There have been no arrests. Enquiries are ongoing."
