Happy Valley, Oregon – A Planned Growth Community

There are many reasons why people are flocking to the small community of Happy Valley, Oregon. The well-maintained streets, beautiful parks and gorgeous trails all make this community the perfect place to call home.

Much of the feel and look of the community was planned over a span of more than a decade. It took steady leadership and considerate planning to instill the standards during development that would adequately mirror the values of the community.

Since its incorporation in the mid-1960s, Happy Valley has expanded from a rural community with a population of 300 to a thriving community of almost 19,000.

The History Of Happy Valley

The community was originally named after the very first residents, Christilla Valley. The names of these residents were Christina and Matilda Deardorff. These residents arrived to the area in 1851, and they claimed over 600 acres of the valley’s floor.

As previously mentioned, the town was incorporated in 1965, and stayed a small community until the mid-199s. It has quickly become one of the fastest growing communities in Oregon.

There are many activities that you can participate in with your children in Happy Valley. Some activities are free, and others require a fee or an admission cost. Some of these activities include:

A short ride to Clackamas will allow the entire family to enjoy a trackless train ride at Polar Bear Express. If you enjoy wildlife, go to Winston to spend the day at the Wildlife Safari. Many visitors to the Safari have stated that the animals are more visible on rainy days than on warmer days.

Happy Valley, Oregon is one of the fastest growing areas in the state, and also has one of the highest median household incomes in Oregon. The residents are proud of their city and are excited for the future.
